Tap the large camera button at the bottom center of the home screen. You can take a new photo with your camera or choose an existing photo from your library.
MicroReceipt automatically reads the vendor, date, total, tax, and line items. Review the parsed fields on the next screen and tap Save when everything looks right.
For best results, lay the receipt flat in good lighting. Crumpled or handwritten receipts may need manual corrections.
MicroReceipt uses Apple's Vision framework for on-device OCR. Accuracy is high for printed receipts with clear text. You can edit any field on the review screen before saving.
Always review totals and dates before saving — OCR can occasionally misread small fonts or faded thermal receipts.
Go to Settings and tap your profile card at the top. Select your entity type — Sole Proprietor, LLC, S-Corp, or C-Corp. This helps the deduction engine apply the right IRS rules to your receipts.
Open the receipt → tap Edit → tap the Category field and select a new one. You can also tap Move to category directly from the receipt detail screen.
Tap any category card on the home screen to expand it, then tap the settings icon in the top right of the card. Enter your monthly limit and tap Save. The budget bar updates immediately.
If you haven't set a limit, MicroReceipt shows a sensible default for that category type so the bar is always meaningful.
Open any receipt and tap Edit in the top right corner. From the edit screen you can change any field. To delete, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Receipt.
You can also swipe left on any receipt in the list or calendar view to reveal a quick delete button.
The deduction engine evaluates each receipt against IRS guidelines based on your business type and expense category. It assigns an estimated deductible amount, a confidence score (0–100), and an audit risk level — Low, Medium, or High.
Deduction estimates are for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
Tap Settings → Tax Export, or tap the Export button inside any Monthly Summary. Choose your date range and tap Export CSV. You can share the file via email, AirDrop, or any app on your device.
The CSV includes vendor, date, category, subtotal, tax, total, deductible amount, and payment method for every receipt in the range.
The deduction engine flags receipts for human review when something is ambiguous — for example, a Meals receipt with a very high amount, a category with mixed business and personal use, or a missing business purpose note.
Open the receipt detail to see the specific reason. Adding a Business Purpose note often resolves the flag.
No. All receipt data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. It may be included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud backup enabled in iOS Settings, but it is never sent to MicroReceipt servers.
Receipt AI is powered by Claude (Anthropic). When you ask a question, a summary of your spending — total amounts, category breakdowns, date ranges — is sent to Anthropic's API along with your question.
No receipt images or full transaction lists are sent. Only aggregated, anonymized spending data is shared. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete All Data. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes all receipts and categories from your device.
This action cannot be undone. Export a CSV backup first if you want to keep a record.
